Who is Brendan? He's an average student going through an average day - a day with many choices. That's were you come in! Through the use of an interactive video and wireless voting buttons, you'll help Brendan make choices such as what to eat for breakfast, how much sleep he shoud get and what he should do in his free time. At the end of the day, students will be armed with practical information to apply to their own daily health-making decisions.

Learn about ecology and the food chain as you dissect an owl pellet. Find and identify the bones of a barn owl's prey - you get to keep the bones you find! Each day nearly 4,000 young people make the decision to try a cigarette. Since smoking kills over 480,000 people each year, Up in Smoke strives to prevent children from making that choice as they are exposed to sobering facts that reveal the habit's impact on health, finances and quality of life. Students will observe both healthy and a smoker's lungs at work, participate in role playing situations and thought-provoking discussions, and learn about what is inside a cigarette through use of oversized props. When through, kids will have many great reasons not to smoke! (This program is not appropriate for children under 3rd grade.)
