ICM Volunteers completing service hours will benefit from:

  • Training necessary to perform in volunteer roles.

Fun Meister!

Description
"Play is the beginning of knowledge." -unknown

We are developing a team of Fun Meisters! These are volunteers who love kids, singing, dancing, using their imagination, playing and most of all, having fun! Fun Meisters will work with the public by facilitating play in the Museum and on the roof top exhibit area. Fun Meisters will lead children and families in games, music and activities in order to bring out the magic of childhood and help make Imagine Children's Museum a fun filled place.

Job Tasks
  • Interact with visitors (children and adults) to encourage different forms of play
  • Answer visitor questions
  • Assist in preparing scheduled games, music activities and special event activities
  • Lead activities and games
  • Evaluate effectiveness of programs and activities

  • Effective communication and leadership skills
  • Organizational and research skills

Time
The position is available for at least 5 hours per week with a minimum 3-month commitment. Hours will be during weekdays, with the possibility of some evenings or weekends. This position is available all year especially in the summer. The position is unpaid. Imagine Children's Museum is willing to complete any necessary paperwork that allows the recipient to receive educational credit or volunteer service.

Art Volunteer

Description
The volunteer will work with the public by facilitating the use of the Museum's Art Studio, creating a "guest ready" atmosphere in the Art Studio, assisting in the preparation of art projects, and supporting guest artists.

  • Interact with guests (children and adults) to encourage the exploration of art concepts and use of various artistic media
  • Maintain a "guest ready" atmosphere in the Art Studio
  • Answer guest questions
  • Assist in preparing scheduled art projects, both daily and for special events
  • Support the needs of guest artists who visit the Museum

Education Volunteer

Description
The volunteer will assist the Museum Education Department with the planning and execution of
camps, classes and other educational events.

Literacy Volunteer

Description
The volunteer will work with the public by facilitating the use of the Museum's literacy area, creating a "guest ready" atmosphere in the literacy area and occasionally executing a weekly "Storytime."

Marketing / Communications Volunteer
Description

Imagine Children's Museum is currently looking for a Marketing / Communications volunteer, this individual will be working closely with the Communications Department at the Museum. This position provides a great opportunity for an individual to utlilize his/her computer, organizational and marketing skills while gaining insight into the world of non-profit children's Museum.

Job Tasks
  • Monitor inventory of marketing/advertisement materials – update inventory Excel spreadsheet
  • Assist in organizing all files and printed materials for marketing/advertisement
  • Website linking – Research and compile information found into an Excel document
  • Data entry of Museum events and activities to event calendars on the internet

Qualifications

Volunteers should have good internet skills, familiarity with Word and Excel applications, and be well organized.
