Education Manager

Job status: Full time / exempt
Position reports to:  Education DIrector

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate Education Department staff
  • Researching, identifying and implementing new revenue streams
  • Work collaboratively as a member of Museum leadership
  • Teach and maintain deep familiarity with all education programs
  • Purchase supplies for all programs on an ongoing basis within budget
  • Assist development and special events departments as needed
  • Represent Imagine Children’s Museum at community meetings and with outside organizations
  • Innovate new programs with a focus on STREAM
  • STEM on Stage presentations

 Qualifications:

  • BA, BS in Education or equivalent in relevant field; teaching certification or relevant experience required
  • Experience and proven track record of developing, implementing, managing and evaluating hands-on, interactive programming
  • Strong time management skills
  • Awareness of curriculum development and Washington State/National Common Core Standards/Next Generation Science Standards
  • Possess strategic planning and budget experience
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including public speaking
  • Proven ability to lead others, be flexible and able to adapt to changing situations
  • Strong and proven ability to set and carry out goals
  • Advanced computer skills using all Microsoft Office programs
  • Enthusiastic and energetic personality that enjoys working with adults and children
  • Ability to be flexible and work in an evolving environment
  • Ability to work independently but also as a committed team player
  • Create an environment where positive thinking and attitudes are valued and expected
  • Must have the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs.
  • Must have transportation, valid driver’s license and insurance as prescribed by ICM policy

Salary Range:  $25 – $30 per hour depending on experience. A candidate must have supervisory/management experience for the top end of the salary range. Preference given to candidates with children’s exhibit experience.
