Preschool Volunteer

Purpose Support the Education Department’s Preschool program, helping make each child’s experience in the half-day preschool welcoming and memorable
Key Responsibilities

Be an enthusiastic, warm and personable presence in the Preschool program. Volunteers have responsibilities that may include, but are not limited to:

Greeting: Welcoming students who attend our daily half-day preschool program, opening the Group Entrance door for children and parents; track family arrivals and departures. As the first face Preschool students and families see upon arrival, provide a warm greeting, a welcoming demeanor and enthusiasm for the day ahead.

Activity Preparation: As guided by Preschool Manager, prepare educational activities and materials.

Location Group entrance area, preschool classroom and Education Department office
Supervision This position reports to the Education Director and Preschool Manager
Length of Assignment An ongoing commitment of at least one day every week is required.
Time Commitment Short shifts to greet children and parents are available from 8:45 to 9:15 a.m., 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., or 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday. To prep materials, the best time is Fridays on a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

 

 

  • Enthusiasm for interacting with children (especially preschool students) and their families
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • Well-organized and adaptable to handle multiple tasks during a shift
  • Office skills such as sorting and filing paperwork are a plus, but not required
  • Physical requirements: ability to hold open doors; ability to remain standing for up to 20 minutes continuously
