 PRESCHOOL CAMPS

 

  • For children ages 3-5* (chronological ages apply) who have not yet entered Kindergarten.
  • Children must be fully toilet-trained (able to use the restroom completely independently).
  • Campers should bring a water bottle. Preschool camps do not have a snack break; please plan accordingly.
  • All preschool camps run Monday through Thursday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. EXCEPT “Space Explorers.”
  • Parents drop their children off at the beginning of camp and pick them up promptly at the end of camp each day

Space Explorers
July 1-3

Monday – Wednesday, 9:30 11:30 a.m.

Join us for a three-day outer space adventure! Build and launch a rocket to the moon, make planetary orbital art, and explore stars and constellations of the night sky.

Bees and Botany

Monday – Thursday, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Summer is a perfect time to explore the garden. Learn about plants, flowers and insects through art, stories and songs. Experiment with traveling seeds, make a flower weaving project and create “seed lollipops” to grow plants at home.

Let’s Go!
July 22-25

Monday – Thursday, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

From cars to trains and even planes, there are lots of ways to get around! Explore the world of transportation through games, songs and toys. Make art with tire tracks, haul loads with a dump truck and build a speedy test ramp for racecars.

Water Wonders
July 29-August 1

Monday – Thursday, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Make a splash in a camp all about water! Follow the water cycle from clouds to soil and experiment with making puddles. Use your science skills to observe how materials absorb or repel water. Test whether objects sink or float, then build a boat to sail the seas!

Little Scientists
August 5-8

Discover the magic of science! Learn what scientists do and the tools they use. Try a variety of new experiments each day exploring water, magnets, colors and even chemical reactions.

Ready, Set, Vet
August 12-15

Monday – Thursday, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Let’s put on our lab coats and learn how veterinarians take care of all kinds of animals! Discover how X-rays can reveal animal insides, observe how animals change as they grow from babies to adults and create animal art to celebrate our furry and feathered friends.

  • Half-day camps run 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Cost: for members, for non-members EXCEPT “Science Makes Sense.”
  • Full-day camps run 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Campers must bring their own lunch (refrigerators and microwaves not available).

Summer Kick Off Art Camp is a dynamic and immersive creative program centered around the exciting theme of summer. Through a blend of artistic activities, participants embark on a journey that captures the essence of summer’s vibrancy and adventure. From nature-inspired projects to outdoor-themed masterpieces, the camp offers a diverse range of activities that welcome the spirit of the season. July 1-3

Monday – Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

See, hear, feel, smell and taste your way through three days of science fun. Examine the body’s sensory systems, including the ways in which they can play tricks on us. Create optical illusions, make scratch-and-sniff art and design animal ears.

HALF DAY: Construction Crew
July 8-12

We’re looking for budding builders and aspiring architects! Construct tall towers, beautiful bridges and gravity-defying structures with a variety of construction tools and toys.

FULL DAY: Dino Days
July 15-19

Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Join us for a week of prehistoric fun! Make your own dinosaur egg, create a fossil dig site and learn about the tools that paleontologists use to solve dinosaur mysteries. Campers will really “dig” learning about life in the distant past!

Join us outside at the Arboretum for a summer exploration of sun, wind, rain and even snow! Learn the science behind extreme weather events like thunderstorms, tornadoes and hail, as well as how to stay safe when bad weather strikes.

From tide pools on the seashore to the deepest depths of the ocean, learn about the strange and wonderful ways that animals have adapted to survive in marine environments. Discover fish that make their own light, giant whales that feed on tiny organisms and squid with a colorful escape plan!

3…2…1…We have liftoff! Enjoy an out-of-this-world week of space exploration. Build a Mars rover, experiment with orbits, act out the life of a star and search for life on other planets.

In this creative camp, our superheroes in training will design costumes and vehicles for fighting crime and saving the world. We’ll also explore how scientists and engineers are working on real superpowers, including super speed, flight, invisibility and more!

From slimes and mold to bugs and scat, enjoy a week of disgusting science fun! Go on a bug hunt, meet some colorful microbes and find out what an owl ate for lunch by unpacking its pellet.

July 8-12

Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Experiment with the chemistry of color, play tricks on your eyes with optical illusions and tinker with materials and motion in a camp that blends art and science. Let your creative mind loose with projects such as stop-motion animations and kinetic sculptures.

We’re bringing your favorite parts of the great outdoors indoors! This camp features art and science projects inspired by nature. Explore how wind and water shape land, practice identifying rocks and fossils and learn ways to protect our natural environment.

EVENING CAMP: Twilight on the Roof Art Camp
July 22-26

Monday – Friday, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

In this unique summer camp, children are outdoors on our rooftop to make art during the most beautiful time of the day! Don’t miss out on this fun summer camp that takes full advantage of our rooftop play area! Each day campers will learn about the artistic styles of famous artists and the various techniques that the artists use, and then create a masterpiece of their own.

HALF DAY: Summer Fashion Art Camp
July 29-August 2

Fashion and Art Camp is a unique and exciting camp designed specifically for young minds with a passion for both fashion and art. This engaging camp offers participants the opportunity to explore the intersection of creativity and style in a fun and supportive environment. Through a variety of hands-on activities, kids delve into the world of fashion design, learning to express their unique visions through artistic expression. From designing their own clothing pieces to experimenting with various art mediums, the camp fosters a sense of self-expression, imagination and a love for both fashion and art.

HALF DAY: Robot Rally

August 5-9

Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The robots are taking over! Learn how robots sense and react to the world around them, then write your own code to direct robots to complete their mission. Can robots talk to each other? Can they help us explore distant planets? Use your imagination to ponder what our robotic future might look like!

This camp has an optional $40 materials fee. At the end of the camp, students will be able to take home their own Edison robot!

HALF DAY:  Adventures in Engineering

August 19-23

Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Who can help stop invasive species, protect a village from an avalanche and put on a dazzling electric light show? Engineers can! Spend the week practicing the engineering design process and using tools and technology to solve real-world problems.
