March Focus: Maria Sibylla Merian
Step into the world of Maria Sibylla Merian, a pioneering scientist and artist who studied insects and plants over 300 years ago!
In this hands-on art experience, children will observe detailed pictures of insects and create their own scientific drawings using colored pencils, just like Merian did in her famous nature studies. Through careful observation and shading techniques, kids will bring butterflies, beetles, and other insects to life on paper—discovering how art and science work together to help us understand the natural world.
