Education Prep Volunteer

Purpose Contribute to a strong Education department by supporting the Museum’s various Education programs and activities. In this role, volunteers work largely behind the scenes to help our educators offer high-quality, hands-on learning experiences to children ages 1-12.
Key Responsibilities Assist with preparation for the Education department’s enrichment programs, field trip enrichments, and Museum-on-the-Go programs. Examples of volunteer responsibilities could include, but are not limited to: cutting, laminating, hot gluing, fastening, or any number of other “crafty” tasks. It may also involve maintenance work such as sharpening pencils, checking supply inventories, washing, sanitizing, and vacuuming.
Location Imagine Children’s Museum’s Education Department Office
Supervision This position reports to the Education Director and other members of the Education team.
Length of Appointment An ongoing commitment of at least one day every two weeks is required.
Time Commitment Each shift will be 2-3 hours and may be scheduled according to the volunteer’s availability. Shifts can be scheduled on any day of the week between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Qualifications
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Able to adapt to a variety of tasks and follow detailed directions
  • Commitment to follow Museum safety guidelines
  • Physical requirements: Ability to use scissors
